Distraction!

Distraction!

What do you do when you have exhausted all options humanly possible?
When it feels like you have hit a brick wall and there is no way to surmount it?
What do you do when You just don’t know what to do?

This past week, I have literally felt this way..
I have worried much,
I have been so bothered about How and when the answers to my most pressing needs were going to come that it had left me feeling dispassionate about the things and people that God has placed in my care.

A certain lady who I check up on regularly came to mind and I Sighed; I should check up on her, Maybe later came my reply, I was so consumed by what I was going through and I honestly didn’t feel like encouraging someone else.

Days ago I was chatting with a dear friend of mine and she said something
to me and I knew it was God speaking, She said; Stella, Do not let anything distract you from your purpose.
As I thought about what she said, I could hear God loudly.
I could see how crafty and strategic the enemy(the Devil) was in his scheme to keep one preoccupied and distracted by Life.
How every day He fights to steal our joy, to bring discouragement as He magnifies the various situations we encounter.
He saps our strength and kills our zeal, So we turn up to our place of assignment but we are unable to serve wholeheartedly because We are a little anxious and worried.
He finds every way possible to bring discouragement our way, it’s a battle, we must not forget. His plan; to distract us from what really matters.

God has been challenging me in the area of my faith in him.
Question is, do I believe God can do it?
Do I really believe, can I trust that God is not about to fail me and though this season I am in feels like forever, It would come to pass?

I find that there are moments when I have let my unbelief get the best of me
And I sit in a dark corner and have a pity party with myself.
I rant, complain and let the tears fall freely. When lord, why lord, I query.
I can just imagine the devil cheering and clapping, we got her; right where we want her, distracted and fixated on her unmet needs, delays and challenges.
Let’s keep her there for as long as we can, so She doesn’t write that blogpost that would encourage someone else.
Let’s keep her downcast and demoralised so she spends time focusing on herself instead of serving others.
Let’s keep him down and remind him of the many times he tried and failed so he doesn’t release that song that would bless the nations.

Let’s keep her in that pity party long enough so she is full of complaints about why she is still unmarried at 35, that way, she wouldn’t do what God has been leading her to do; start a  ministry for matured singles.

Do you see where I am going?
Can you recognise the cunning ways of the enemy?
Every thought that makes us question or doubt the goodness and ability of our God must be captured. We must be on our guard.
No doubt life can be challenging, No doubt the reality of what is before us can be discouraging and sometimes overwhelming.
But I am learning to Cast my cares and worries on God and exchange them for peace and joy, anyone who knows me knows this; I always have a song on my lips, humming and singing to myself all day long; then I remind myself of where God has brought me from and all the mighty things He has done in the past, and in no time, my faith is restored.
This is my battle strategy, So I do not forget Whose Child I am and what He is calling me to do.

What is it you are experiencing at the moment,
Do not allow it distract you from your purpose,
The next time the enemy brings fear, worry and discouragement your way
Shake your head, remind him of God’s promises, put some praise music on and dance your way to victory.
Shout it loud and clear, devil you would not distract me from my purpose…
Then get on with your assignment and fulfil that God given purpose.
And as you serve, God would meet you at the point of your needs in Jesus Mighty Name.Amen.

May God bless and strengthen you.
May your joy be full even in the midst of storms
May God’s peace envelope you and May His face shine on you continuously
May He answer your deepest prayers and grant your heart desires speedily in Jesus mighty name.
Amen.

You are loved.

1 Peter 5:7-9 Living Bible (TLB)

7 Let him have all your worries and cares, for he is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you.

8 Be careful—watch out for attacks from Satan, your great enemy. He prowls around like a hungry, roaring lion, looking for some victim to tear apart. 9 Stand firm when he attacks. Trust the Lord; and remember that other Christians all around the world are going through these sufferings too.

Neh 4:7-9 NIV
7 But when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites and the people of Ashdod heard that the repairs to Jerusalem’s walls had gone ahead and that the gaps were being closed, they were very angry. 8 They all plotted together to come and fight against Jerusalem and stir up trouble against it. 9 But we prayed to our God and posted a guard day and night to meet this threat.

Gal 6:9 CEV
Don't get tired of helping others. You will be rewarded when the time is right, if you don't give up.

Who is your father?

Who is your father? I remember the first time I travelled to my village without my parents I must have been in primary school and my dearest grandmother of blessed memory insisted my parents brought me over for the weekend. Village life really and truly intrigued me, I loved the simplicity of communal living and how content everyone seemed, food was eaten fresh from the farms, with the large itigidi river providing fresh fish and water, and in the evenings, a dozen children would gather in my granny’s living room to watch a DVD, what was there not to like, for a child living in the city and raised overseas, village life was exciting, refreshing and alluring. That was the first of many visits, the older i got,  my grandmother became the most influential woman in my life, especially as I had lost my mother at age 14. She was wise, inspiring and I picked up my literary prowess from her as she and my mum piqued my interest in books. She would make me write letters to her and...

Are you taking notes?

Are you taking notes? I am so excited, something is brewing…but I cannot aptly describe it; I know without a shadow of a doubt that something is about to happen. I am so pumped about my future and what God is doing and as I look ahead, I cannot help but reminisce for we cannot truly appreciate how far we have come until we look back. Today I had a flashback to a season of my life where I was overlooked, underrated, and written off. I was that girl with nothing going on for her, I could walk into a room and not be noticed, not because I wasn’t beautiful, attractive or good looking but because when people looked at me in that season, all they could see was what had happened to me. What had happened to me? I had failed and repeated a year in university, I was the assistant class rep that year and I had to be replaced. Oh!  the disgrace and shame I felt, every bit of confidence I had in myself was knocked down. I still remember the silence and hushed tones when s...

THIS TOO SHALL PASS

Oh no, it was actually real, the scene that had just flashed before me wasn't from the contagion movie. It was actually real. Somebody pinch me! News , mayhem, panic buying, fear mongering, social distancing,self-isolation unimaginable loss of lives, truncation of businesses, and untold hardship for many. I caught myself as a wave of fear washed over me, what is the meaning of all of this, what must I do, what is God saying? As I pondered, I could hear very clearly in my spirit these words: "This too shall pass "and almost immediately an unexplainable peace and confidence in a God who is bigger than my fears and still In control settled me. How are you doing child of God? Are you troubled, worried, tired, afraid or overwhelmed? Rest in the assurance of God's word and His love. Amidst all the fear and uncertainty be reminded that God is sovereign.  Amidst all the pain and the loss be assured that God is present, to comfort and to restore. ...
